The first thing to do if one wants to rid himself of sin is to recognize that he is a sinner and guilty of eternal punishment.  He should recognize that Christ died to save him from sins and deliver him from all the works of the devil.

If man does not believe he is a fallen creature he naturally would not believe in redemption from the Fall of Adam and Eve. Man should acknowledge guilt and be sorry for sin.   You must do this before you can be saved  (*II CORINTHIANS 7:9-11).

You must confess all sin and repent of being a sinner and turn from Satan to God and from darkness to light and from sin to a life of holiness in order to be born again.  You must identify yourself with Christ in His death, burial, resurrection, and manifestation of a new life in Him (*ROMANS 6:1-13).

There are two necessary things to do to be “saved” or “born again“.

The Bible teaches that men not only can repent, but that you must repent to be saved. Men must confess their sins before they can be forgiven; that one must walk in the Word of God to be continued to be cleansed from all sin; and there are many things one must continue to do if he wants to please God and live as God demands.

The Bible demands that all men must be saved by repentance and faith in God.  In part one, I gave the definition of repentance; while faith isforward action in trusting Him”.

True repentance also includes “the sense of personal guilt”  “godly sorrow for sin”  “an apprehension of God’s mercy through Christ”  and a “turning away from sin to be free from further guilt”  (*PSALMS 51:1-7)  (*II CORINTHIANS 7:9-11)   (*ISAIAH 53:4-6) and (*ACTS 26:18).

If one does not repent, one will perish; so repentance is necessary  (*ROMANS 2:5).

Men are also to seek God in order to find Him  (*LUKE 12:31).

Confessions of sins and true repentance includes prayer, turning away from sin, forsaking sin, turning to God with godly sorrow, seeking God, asking God for help 24/7, believing God, and having faith in the atonement [to make amends for a wrongdoing, reconcile] of Christ. All of this is necessary to be saved from sin.

No one should try to get right with God who refuses to repent, confess, pray, seek Him, turn from sin, forsake all, and believe the Gospel.  When one truly turns to God, he does all these things and more.

“Without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him”  (*HEBREWS 11:6).

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast”  (*EPHESIANS 2:8,9).

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever {that’s you} believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (*JOHN 3:16).

God has promised to forgive if you confess.  It is not about how you feel, it is about your belief that you are forgiven  (*I JOHN 1:9).

It must be faith in the right thing – the blood of  JESUS. Faith in water baptism (which I will talk about in another BLOG) church membership and other religious rituals will never save the soul.  It must be faith in the sacrifice of Christ and in Jesus as your personal Savior.  It must be faith from the heart and not simple mental faith or assent to a fact        (*ROMANS 10:9-13).

When one believes from the heart, he gives up all for Christ and wholeheartedly serves God and righteousness. He renounces sin and all things that would hinder his new life of faith. It is all about Him and pleasing Him once we accept Him as our Lord and Savior.

This is the same as the first commandment of loving the Lord your God  with all your heart, all your soul, and with all your mind  (*MATTHEW 22:37).

If you are ready to turn from your old life of sin and shame and turn to the God who loved you even when you were a sinner, repeat this prayer now:

“Dear heavenly Father, I come to you now confessing that I am a sinner in need of a Savior.  Cleanse me of all my sins and make me a new person.  I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that God raised Jesus from the dead.  I choose this day to serve you. I thank you, Lord, that you are now my Father and from this moment on I am in the family of God.   Amen! and Amen!”
